2007 Winner

Miss. Victoria Christine Herold is the 2007 recipient of our River Hill Lions Club-Clover High School-Harold M. Brietman Memorial Scholarship, a $4000.00 award, payable annually at $1000.00 for each of four years. The award is based upon academic prowess, school and community involvement and financial need.

Victoria lives with her mother, a single parent, who is also the major provider for Victoria’s convalescent grandfather, who lives with them. Both Victoria and her mother work to maintain the family home and land.

Sharing top honors with six other graduating CHS seniors in a graduating class of 322, Victoria, with a 4.867 GPA, and a 1900combined M/V/W SAT score, has distinguished herself by completing most of her high school graduation requirements in her junior year. Additionally, she has completed college courses in English, history, theatre, psychology and public speaking. Simultaneously, Victoria, has been a varsity cheerleader for her entire high school career, demonstrating both athletic talent and commitment, especially in 2004, when she helped lead and hold the squad together during a period when there was no faculty coach. Also, Victoria, held leadership positions in the CHS student council as an elected officer and as a volunteer. In fact, during the 2005-2006 academic year, Victoria served on a county leadership committee composed of high school students that sponsored major anti-drug community awareness activities.

Victoria models commitment to community service. She has volunteered for Special Olympics, the Richardson Rescue Animal shelter, YMCA, God’s Kitchen, Angel Tree, Cool Fest(anti-drug rally), Operation Christmas Child, and, recently, the Clover School Bond Referendum Committee. Furthermore, as a senior eligible for early dismissal, Victoria donated her time to CAAC. Her principal describes her as “one of the most talented, hardworking, and caring young persons I have known in my career in education.”

Victoria, who will be attending Anderson University in Anderson SC, aspires to be a surgeon who gives back to her community by “providing free medical and surgical care, as well as planning mission trips to repair cleft palates and congenital deformities in children here and abroad”. She also states she admires the Lions Club and looks forward to becoming a member. As you have heard, Victoria, a living model of service, embodies all the very best of human qualities. We are blessed by her commitment to share her prodigious talents with and for us. Please join me in honoring this most worthy young lady and in thanking her mother, Billie Carroll for her gift to the world
